I collect all year long. Clothes, toys, school supplies . . . Living in the land of plenty, it's so easy to do - collecting I mean. Wish I had a freight ship to send it all down.
Thinking of the barrio school with it's few broken tables, and virtually empty classrooms. Thinking of the children with their broken flip flops and worn out clothes, two sizes too small. Thinking of the street children with nought a ball to play with.
But these things I bring are just that - things. The clothes I bring will be but rags one day, the toys will break and be discarded. The school supplies will be consumed. They will all fade away. How can I pack the things that will really last? How can I pack hope?
